Goal

OUR MISSION:        

  • To stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

  • Act as a charity/MADD Canada volunteer representative (18+) in a hospitality role at the RAMA Gaming Centre in Mississauga - 2295 Battleford Rd, Mississauga, ON L5N 2W8
  • Help raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving


    Description

    RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES        

    • Partner with RAMA Gaming Centre staff and work in partnership with a 2nd volunteer to provide customer service (to guests of RAMA Mississauga)
    • Greet customers/guests when they come into the hall and thank them for their support
    • Bring your best smile and be ready to help
    • Be knowledgeable about MADD Canada’s policies, programs and services
    • Promote the organization positively
    • Respect and follow directions given by RAMA staff  
    • Alert RAMA gaming staff to any issues/concerns raised by the guests that you can’t solve
    • If you cannot attend your assigned shift or if you will be late, you must contact MADD Canada staff (Dawn – [email protected]  / Renata – [email protected] and the Bingo Co-ordinator - Maxine Doucette [email protected]
    • Check in with Manager Desk and Caller when you arrive
    • Put charity sign on easel (on stage) when you arrive 
    • Sign in at the Volunteer Desk when you arrive
    • Ensure there are MADD Canada pamphlets on display (re-stock if necessary or alert appropriate MADD Canada staff to send more materials)

    During the Bingo Session:

    • Keep tables clear of debris (paper/food etc…)
    • Call back bingos as needed
    • Circulate the hall, but do not walk in pairs
    • Deliver food trays when requests (watch for the green light in the corner (near entrance of hall)
    • Hand out any promos as requested

    At the end of the Bingo Session:

    • Help wipe tables
    • Straighten machines/chairs
    • Log off any machines left on

    VOLUNTEER CONDUCT WHILE ON SITE:

    • Professional, punctual, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable
    • No cell phone use permitted in the hall (please go to the lobby if you need to use your phone)
    • Adhere to the dress code: 
      • dark pants (no jeans)
      • collared logoed shirt (provided by MADD Canada)
      • no sweater over collared shirt
      • wear name tag (provided by MADD Canada)
      • no open toed shoes and no high boots
      • no hats and no scarfs

    *Session violations (i.e., dress code violations, missed shift or tardiness) may result is penalties (no money raised for MADD Canada)

    Qualifications

    COMMITMENT                                                                                                                   

    • Shifts are evenings/daytime & weekends/weekday and variable (i.e., Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday/Sunday - 6:30pm-9:30pm, 3:30pm-6:30pm, 12noon-3:30pm or 9:30pm-1:00am)
    • 18+ years old 
    • Police Check required
    • Drive/Bus or get dropped off and picked-up from your volunteer shift(s) at RAMA in Mississauga

    Driver's Licence: Not required   
    Proof of Vaccination: Not required


    Time Commitment
    This is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
    Shifts are available Anytime

    Training


    • Training will be provided by RAMA Gaming Centre staff - online & in-person

    • You will receive an Orientation Guide from MADD Canada

    • MADD Canada Excellence in Volunteer Training – highly recommended
