GoalAt the heart of Caledon Community Services (CCS) is an innovative and exciting volunteer program that is integrated into every service, activity, project and business operation of the agency. From students to seniors, business professionals, homemakers, newly-retired, semi-retired, and everything in between, volunteers reflect the Caledon demographic and help us serve the community more fully The fundamental, functional goal of this program is to have participants improve fluency in the English language. The Eh Café will provide a positive and supportive learning environment for newcomers to practice their English conversation skills. Additional benefits include orientation of newcomers to Caledon, and building awareness of Canada's culture and channels for networking and social integration. In this program, volunteers are encouraged to be multi-faceted in their approach to language instruction, supplementing formal instruction by interactive conversation that incorporates the benefits noted above. |

DescriptionThe Eh Café is an English conversation circle type program. Once a week, a group of newcomers to Canada get together virtually via Zoom to practice their English conversation skills in an informal and supportive environment. The sessions are led by volunteer facilitators who are fluent in English. PLEASE NOTE: The Eh Café is not offered during July and August (Summer break) and the Winter break (2 weeks in December), March break (1 week in March) Volunteers are expected to commit for a minimum of 12 months (see TIME COMMITMENT, below). Program tasks:

Time CommitmentThis is a Long Term (More than 6 months) commitment
