Goal

My Women Support is a not-for-profit community service organization with a mission to empower women to achieve a life of independence and purpose by utilizing their full potential. Our aim is to support and enhance women's individual strengths and capacities, and in doing so overcome their weaknesses towards becoming healthier, happier, and more successful. Since 2005, My Women Support has earned numerous awards and recognition within our local communities, but our biggest award, in fact reward, is the positive feedback that we receive from our clients, as we change their lives for the better, producing better outcomes.

As part of our intention to build a greater presence within our local communities, My Women Support seeks a Social Media Coordinator, who will be a skilled, dedicated volunteer committed to meet our communication goals through effective use of 'social media'. This is a 'role' ideally suited for a volunteer who enjoys taking the initiative, being creative and genuinely collaborative in the process of defining the 'role'!



Description

The Social Media Coordinator 'role' is principally virtual, and the volunteer engagement includes the following:

  • Review/evaluation of our current 'social media' presence, performance, and how we use familiar platforms, with reference to promotion of our vision/mission/message/'brand'
  • Collaborate with My Women Support staff to develop an effective approach to our 'social media' presence, inpact, and ongoing management
  • Direct involvement in creating/managing content/appearance for familiar platforms (ie. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube)
  • Frequent use and reliance upon the publishing software Canva
  • Periodic online meetings with My Women Support staff/volunteers to review, discuss, develop and plan particular projects and campaigns

Qualifications

  • Minimum Age - 16 (Maximum - 30)
  • Capable of, and committed to, and volunteer engagement of at least 6 MONTHS (preferably longer to promote continuity) 
  • You have an academic and/or professional background in Marketing or Public/Community Relations, with acute awareness of the role of 'social media'
  • Familiar and confident with (management of) popular platforms (ie. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin, etc.)
  • Strong command of Canva
  • Reliable access to the Internet and devices/software required for the 'role'
  • You are a self-starter, project-oriented, diligent about keeping deadlines, and you're committed to delivering excellence, with attention to detail
  • Ability to volunteer collaboratively, plus work independently

Time Commitment
This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment

FLEXIBLE: Our Social Media Coordinator will volunteer principally remotely/virtually, with hours devoted to both ongoing management of 'social media' platforms and to projects/campaigns, and other tasking. We will work out a schedule and budget of hours expected on a monthly basis with the successful candidate.
