Once a week, on a mutually agreeable day (and time), volunteers will meet with a pre-assigned person to enjoy an activity that is of mutual interest to both parties for a period of 12 weeks. (Any costs associated with course fees will be covered for the volunteer). Meetings and activities are expected to last 1 - 2 hours and may take place on weekdays, weeknights, or weekends. Volunteers will be introduced to their respective 'matches' before the start of the 12-week engagement (see TIMECOMMITMENT, below). Some of the things that you can anticipate doing with your match include, going out for coffee, bowling, watching a movie, going for a walk in the park, attending a special event in Mississauga, etc.

You will enjoy weekly, ongoing support by Community Living Mississauga staff, when needed, AND you will perform program evaluations to gauge success after 6 weeks of volunteering, and at the end of 12 weeks.

We have 14 people who are looking for a personal volunteer to support them as they start re-entering our community after a long period of social isolation.

• Summer volunteering commitment (12 weeks, until early September)
• You are a friendly volunteer with an interest in improving the quality of life of an individual who has an intellectual disability
• Add to that, you're thoughtful, empathetic, with an ability to motivate and encourage
• You come with well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
• You're prepared to adhere strictly to CLM's policies and procedures (keeping your 'match' happy, safe, and secure)
• Above all, you believe in, and are committed to, the value of inclusion for all, plus you want to do something about it
• PLEASE NOTE: Because the 'position' involves close personal interaction with a person who is 'vulnerable', a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check and Proof of Vaccination are required.

Attend an ORIENTATION & TRAINING session, where you will be given all the information you will need to make this a successful volunteer experience. (Training will include instruction about Community Living Mississauga's policies and procedures as prerequisite to your volunteer engagement.)
