Goal

The Harris Brand Foundation (Foundation) has been founded to answer an urgent need: To advance education by providing publicly available scholarships, bursaries, and other forms of financial assistance to Student-Athlete individuals pursuing elementary, secondary and or postsecondary education. Our outreach focuses on working with like-minded individuals from the private and corporate sectors to curate meaningful and impactful sponsorship opportunities for its qualified donees. Our slogan: Financially supporting Student-Athletes with their Dreams.

As the Foundation continues to gain presence and recognition online and becomes increasingly known in the communities that we reach out to, as a not-for-profit charity, the Foundation neceesarily must step up its fundraising initiatives and activities. Typical of this are events that recently have been online, with the propect of a return in 'in person' fundraising and other events. To 'step up', we are in immediate need of a volunteer Fundraiding & Event Coordinator, who will be responsible for the coordination and execution of The Harris Brand Foundation's fundraising events. 



Description

The 'role' includes orchestration and hands-on involvement in all event and fundraising activities, development of corporate and community relationships together with the solicitation of monetary and in-kind support for the Foundation.

Responsibilities of the Fundraising & Event Coordinator include, but may not be limited to:

  • Planning and coordination of the organization's fundraising events, including budgeting, identifying/securing event venues (catering/entertainment, if applicable), determining event ticket prices/sales targets and selling platforms/outlets/services
  • Soliciting sponsorship for monetary and in-kind support from corporate and community sponsors
  • Event planning that sets out timelines, coordinated with staff and volunteer planning/preparation activities, to ensure all elements are delivered on time and are of high quality
  • In collaboration with Foundation staff, event committee volunteers and other stakeholders, develop and oversee marketing and the production of fundraising and complementary promotional materials
  • In consort with 'social media' and 'graphic design' volunteers, put into place a dynamic marketing/promotion campaign that is closely coordinated with the event
  • Tracking revenue, expenses and budgeted forecast for the event(s)
  • Overall coordination of the event committee, its members (volunteers) and effective liaison with third party suppliers, venue providers, public authorities (if applicable)
  • Careful management of relationships with event sponsors, donors (with appropriate recognition of their contributions)
  • Ongoing reporting to the Foundation excecutive and our Board, if requested

Qualifications

  • Minimum Age -18
  • You bring to the 'role' a passion for helping underserved youth, and you are aware of and support The Harris Brand Foundation's vision and mission
  • A history of successful fundraising and event management, in not-for-profit (charity) settings (also, certification in 'project management' is an asset)
  • Your ability to communicate (primarily in English), so as to lead and motivate others is a most welcome asset
  • You're available for, and committed to, a volunteering engagement lasting up to 6 MONTHS, preferably longer, as fundraising (events) options are gradually returning
  • Leadership qualities, ready to be a 'role model', building confidence in our fundraising team
  • Capable and prepared to collaborate with Foundation staff, stakeholders, and volunteers on event committies to deliver outstanding fundraising experiences that achieve the vital fundraising goals that we pass on to deserving youth

FLEXIBLE, subject to a monthly 'budget' of volunteer hours, AND IN PARTICULAR to the hours set in a 'fundraising event plan'. (The successful candidate will coordinate the planning/prep of the event, fundraising channels, and ultimately attend and oversee its management and success.)

The Foundation foresees a return to 'in person' fundraising events and other initiatives, with the 'role' becoming 'hybrid' in character.



Training

ORIENTATION and TRAINING will be virtual for this 'role', unless the successful candidate is otherwise advised.
