GoalIndus Community Services (Indus) is an accredited, not-for-profit community benefit organization that has served local communities for over 35 years. Indus Community Services, through its professional staff and a team of dedicated volunteers, is a leader in the provision of culturally-appropriate services to newcomers, families, women, and seniors. With our increasingly expanded mission, we provide educational, social, settlement, health, and employment-related services to help all new immigrants in the Peel region. INDUS wishes to enable newcomer families or individuals to accomplish a successful transition into their new community. |

DescriptionThe Dari/Pashto Speaking 'Community Connections' Volunteer will collaborate with Indus staff in the planning and delivery of culturally and language-specific workshops for newcomers to support their successful integration into the community. The workshops will offer an orientation to Canada, Ontario, and Peel and provide an understanding of Canadian cultural norms and social etiquette. Workshops will be conducted in July and August 2022, with scheduling to be arranged. Responsibilities may include:
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD APPLY as soon as possible, and by no later than May 31st, 2022. Volunteers with 'profiles' in Volunteer MBC's Referral System can click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' Time CommitmentThis is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment
Shifts are available Anytime FLEXIBLE volunteering schedule, having regard to workshop sessions occurring once a week, plus preparation time. WORKSHOP PLANNING will start in June, in anticipation of scheduling workshops for July and August 2022. |

TrainingSuccessful candidates must undergo screening, plus complete all required volunteer orientation and training sessions. TRAINING will be provided to successful candidates virtually. |
