As we emerge from COVID-19, 'in person' volunteering is gradually returning, and Journey Thrift is in need of capable, dedicated volunteers to fill various 'roles' (see DESCRIPTION, below).

Description

Journey Thrift has a variety of 'roles' available for volunteers and we currently have a need in all areas of our store operations:

  • Cashier - Our volunteer cashiers help customers make purchases, answer inquires, and welcome customers into our store. All cashier training is provided prior to starting at our cash desk
  • Greeter - Greeters stay near the front of the store and welcome customers into Journey Thrift. They also answer questions, direct people in the store, and ensure that customers are following proper guidelines regarding mask-wearing and hand-sanitizing
  • Backroom Associate - The backroom volunteers help to accept, sort, process, price, and put out donated items. This role varies day-to-day depending on what we receive and what needs to be processed. Backroom volunteers should be able to comfortably lift moderately heavy loads (e.g. a garbage bag full of clothes) and be comfortable interacting with customers who come to donate at the store. All training will be provided on-site
  • Floor associate - Journey Thrift floor associates assist customers while they are shopping, help keep the sales floor tidy and organized, and help with creating in-store displays and promotions

PLEASE APPLY NOW for a September 7, 2021 start to active volunteering. Volunteers with 'profiles' in Volunteer MBC's Referral System can click the yellow box 'Apply Now!'
