The Region of Peel serves almost 1.5 million residents in Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon. We deliver a wide range of resident-focused services across the Region. In 2022, Peel continues to face perhaps the biggest challenge in its history – community response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Together with the Health System and our community partners, we are leading the urgent ongoing delivery of VACCINE to Peel residents.

Volunteers provide valuable support to the Region of Peel in the delivery of the COVID-19 mass vaccination program. Volunteers help augment the Health System's capacity, while gaining valuable skills and personal development in the process.The Region of Peel takes great pride in the efforts of all volunteers for their commitment to provide this valuable, essential support.

Recognizing the spread of the Omicron variant and the increase of shots available, the Region of Peel has expanded its COMMUNITY VACCINATION CLINICS to include Rockwood Mall (4141 Dixie Road, Mississauga). Access to locations of mass vaccination community clinics:

Goals of the COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Clinic Volunteer Program:
> To support Peel Regional staff in the delivery of COVID-19 vaccination at community clinics throughout Peel > FIRST/SECOND/PEDIATRIC/BOOSTER SHOTS
> To help save lives, protect Health System capacity, and minimize the impacts of COVID-19 upon our residents

The GOVERNMENT of ONTARIO has accelerated the DATES for ADMINISTRATION of BOOSTERS and PEDIATRIC DOSES, and residents of the Region are directly benefiting. BUT to MEET THE NEW DATES, we URGENTLY NEED VOLUNTEERS to assist at the Region's VACCINATION SITES. Don't delay! APPLY NOW!


Volunteers provide valuable support to our community vaccination clinics by:

  • Welcoming clients and monitoring line-ups to ensure 'physical distancing protocols' are followed.
  • If clinic is operating, by calling pre-registered clients in from their vehicle or outside
  • Asking if client has an appointment (if clinic is appointment-based)
  • Screening for any COVID-19 related symptoms as per the clinic screening protocols
  • Referring clients who fail the screening protocol or have questions to the appropriate staff member
  • Ensuring clients arriving at the clinic are wearing a mask and that they clean their hands with alcohol-based hand rub, while providing a mask to clients who do not have one
  • Determining whether the client has any accessibility needs (e.g., mobility issues, sight or hearing impaired, need for a translator)
  • Directing clients to registration
  • Facilitating crowd control and clinic flow
  • Wiping down frequently touched surfaces
  • Ensuring that signage is in place and visible
  • Directing clients who have registered to the next available Immunizer (healthcare professional who will administer the vaccine)
  • Ensureing clients waiting in line for the next Immunizer are 'physically distanced' with the aid of markings on the floor indicating where to stand and/or where chairs are placed to sit
  • Promoting and supporting clients to complete our 'client experience survey'

The Region of Peel invites interested volunteers to create an online 'profile' within Volunteer MBC's Referral system, and you then will be able to click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' It is our intention to recruit suitable volunteers as soon as possible, and in view of that, we encourage qualified candidates to APPLY WITHOUT DELAY (by no later than JANUARY 31, 2022).

  • Minimum Age - 16 (Parent/Guardian consent required for volunteers under 18)
  • Minimum length of volunteering commitment > at least one 4 hour shift per week, preferably until at least the end of May, 2022
  • Physical ability to perform tasks associated with position (ie. able to stand/walk around for extended periods of time during 4 hour volunteer shift)
  • 2 References required
  • Genuine interest in helping the community during these challenging times
  • Interest in/awareness of Public Health is an asset
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
  • Solid oral English skills (additional languages welcome)
  • Self-directed and able to multitask and prioritize within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to follow the Program's policies and procedures strictly (including privacy/confidentiality)
  • Able to volunteer as part of a team
  • Organized, reliable, consistent in keeping to schedules/commitments

SCREENING of applicants will be 'virtual', initially (tel/email/online interviewing), unless otherwise advised. See DESCRIPTION, above.

This is a Medium Term (4 - 6 months) commitment starting 2022-01-03 AND ending 2022-05-31

FLEXIBLE: Minimum 4-hour visit WEEKLY volunteer shift (see DESCRIPTION, above) OVERALL: Medium Term (between 3 to 6 months) requested
