Position: 2837 - 'Virtual' English Language Program Coordinator (Fluent in Arabic)
Organization: Rotary Club of Mississauga-Malton (formerly Mississauga Airport)
Position Address: Volunteer's Home > VIRTUAL
Location: Mississauga, Virtual
Accessibility: Unknown
Ideal for: Individual, Co-op Placements
Description
[ RCMM wishes to recruit for this 'role' right away, so please do not hesitate to APPLY! ]

Program content tentatively would be 'virtual', online sessions twice a week, every other week (twice a month). Participants will be newcomers (stay-at-home single mothers) who are fluent in Arabic, and in need to improving their English and overall communication skills . Content will generally follow an 'ESL' format, depending on the abilities and needs of the participants. Emphasis will be on providing an informative, effective, and ideally entertaining program.

A fundamental goal of this program is to build confidence and self-reliance among the participants, helping them better integrate into the Canadian scene.

The volunteer 'coordinator' would develop a fundamental program content (incl. online 'delivery'), plus plan ongoing content in cooperation of our Program Director. In the early stages, the volunteer will act as moderator of these sessions, plus evaluate the specific needs of the participants.

Please apply without delay (DEADLINE: December 18, 2020). Volunteers with 'profiles' in Volunteer MBC's Referral System should upload their resumes, then click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' (above/below) in order to provide their name/contact info/resume as part of the application process. Thank you!

Goal
'Rotary Club of Mississauga-Malton' (RCMM) is one of 9 highly active Rotary clubs in the City of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. Proud to be part of Rotary International, a 1.2 million member worldwide humanitarian organization, with 33,000 Rotary clubs around the world. Rotarians are men and women who volunteer their time to make a difference in our communities and the world, through local and international service projects, fundraising efforts to support local charities, youth programs, and global relief efforts.

Our outreach programs locally focus on Youth and Seniors. To adapt our existing programs to a 'virtual' format (in view of COVID-19 restrictions), we seek to enlist capable dedicated volunteers to coordinate these programs and their transition, in collaboration with the Club's Program Director.

Locally, the Club has recognized a need for a program that focuses on teaching newcomer 'stay-at-home' mothers English, with Arabic being their first/native language. The ideal volunteer will enjoy the opportunity to build a 'remote' program that will start with a small group, with further development possible. This is a 'role' that the volunteer will largely define.
