Description
You will be working under the supervision of the Volunteer Coordinator. The 'role' includes:
- Receiving and moving all donations to designated area(s) for sorting
- Assisting with sorting gifts
- Driving a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up and deliver gifts and donations (if you have an Ontario Class 'G' Driver's Licence - see 'Position Qualifications', below)
- Possibility of some gift wrapping
- Assisting in preparation for any celebrations for the Clients for Christmas
- Possibly delivering gifts to families

*** For this 'role', all volunteers will be trained to follow strictly COVID-19 health and safety protocols and other requirements. Protecting volunteers is our primary concern and priority. ***

Goal
The Salvation Army continues to be a high-profile, longstanding community service organization in Brampton, and one of our major ongoing contributions is operation of a network of shelters that assist the homeless and those family members who need alternative accommodation due to domestic abuse, financial hardship, members of our community who are vulnerable, in need, and possibly at risk.

The volunteer 'role' will assist with the organizing and delivering of gifts and donations towards giving the residents of the shelter and the recent residents a nice Christmas. This is an immediate SEASONAL opportunity, so do not delay in applying. Thank you!

Position Qualifications
● You're passionate about helping the less fortunate and people (families) genuinely in need at Christmas, and you value cultural diversity/inclusiveness
● Solid oral/written English (fluency in other language(s) is welcome)
● Reliable, friendly, ready to take on the various tasks that the 'role' embraces
● You're able to volunteer independently and as part of a dynamic team, meeting deadlines and getting things done
● You are committed to following strictly COVID-19 health and safety protocols and the Salvation Army's policies/procedures
● IF you have a Class 'G' DRIVER'S LICENCE: Provide a Driver's Abstract (a Driver's Licence is an asset, albeit not mandatory)

Time Commitment
Duration:Short Term (3 months or less)

2 or more days weekly over approximately 2 months. Whatever your availability between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.


Training
Volunteer will attend an orientation and training with the Coordinator of Volunteer Services
Training will include COVID-19 health and safety procedures/requirements
