[ PLEASE NOTE: Eden will be screening applicants 'virtually' during the COVID-19 Emergency; the 'role' itself is largely VIRTUAL, as the volunteer will work remotely, likely from home. ]

The Volunteer Coder will be working on various projects as assigned by Eden Food for Change. These projects may include a website for new initiatives, web forms to simplify registration for food sorting groups, and models to run future fundraising programs. These projects necessarily will interface with our 'social media' platforms.

The skills and expertise of the coder will be taken into account, and in view of that consideration, projects and deadlines will be set in collaboration with the Coder. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, and willing to work independently.

This role is a remote-working opportunity, and Eden recognizes the need during the COVID-19 Emergency for physical 'social distancing' measures. You will be reporting directly to our Community Engagement Manager (by telephone/email/online - Skype, etc.)

When the COVID-19 Emergency subsides, Eden will launch improved programs and new initiatives at our facilities and through our website and 'social media' (see 'Social Media', below). To accomplish this launch, we need a computer software and website coder to improve our Internet presence (look/content) designed to enhance the flow of communication between Eden and the community that we serve, a dynamic volunteer who is both knowledgeable and confident in this 'role'.

Position Qualifications
● You possess computer/software/web design coding skills sufficient to fill the requirements of this 'role' confidently
● Past experience coding in the area of website development/maintenance is an asset
● Commitment to engagement as a volunteer for a MINIMUM of 6 MONTHS
● Ability to volunteer collaboratively as well as independently
● Reliable access computer equipment (required software) and the Internet
● You have solid ENGLISH oral/written skills
● Organized, project-oriented, with necessary attention to detail
● Commitment to abide by Eden's policies and procedures

FLEXIBLE: A commitment of a MINIMUM number of hours per month, plus project timelines/deadlines will be agreed upon as between the volunteer and Eden.

Orientation to Eden will be provided, including our website operation and 'social media' platforms. TRAINING will centre on our policies and procedures, principally for volunteers. The ideal candidate will possess skills/experience that will not require extensive technical training, just ongoing support.
