Position: 1667 - Volunteer Website Developer > Active during COVID-19
Organization: Connect 4 Life
Position Address: Connect 4 Life: Suite 505, 880 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, and 'virtually', from the volunteer's residence
Location: Mississauga, Brampton, Virtual

Connect 4 Life is a registered Canadian charity and our Mission is to enhance the potential of individuals with disabilities by strengthening their independence and contributions to society; and to promote positive social change by transforming public perception. We welcome expressions of interest from individuals in the community who share our commitment to individuals of ALL ABILITIES and are willing to contribute.

With COVID-19 having made a lasting impact upon how we communicate within our communities, Connect 4 Life has come to recognize the vital role 'virtual' communication and 'social media' will play in any 'new normal'. Bearing that in mind, we seek a capable, energetic and committeed volunteer to assist us in keeping our 2 websites current, while sustaining and improving the quality of each in both delivery of our 'message', our programs and outreach, and in being vital channel of communication with all our stakeholders.

IDEALLY, the suitable candidate also will be equipped to take up the challenge to assist Connect 4 Life in making our website MORE ACCESSIBLE to users who may have visual, auditory, or other impairments that ordinarily would limit their use of the Internet and our website, even to the extent of total exclusion. See the DESCRIPTION below for details.

  • You will review the current status of the 2 websites, bearing in mind the vision, mission, and impact of Connect 4 Life upon the communities that we serve
  • A primary function of this 'role' is to maintain and keep current the appearance, visual integrity, and the content of these websites, and you will put in place a management protocol to achieve that
  • Ideally, our website will be adapted over time, so that persons with impairments will be able to enjoy access, and our Website Developer will be encouraged to take up this challenge
  • Also involved will be creation of content/appearance of certain sections, and WordPress is the web tool that we use
  • You will create an 'archive' for each website, as well

Connect 4 Life's need for an ideal volunteer to fill this vital 'role' is immediate. Please apply before July 31, 2021. Applicants who have 'profiles' with Volunteer MBC's Referral System should upload a resume, then click the yellow box 'Apply Now!' (above/below). When you do that, your name/contact info will be sent confidentially with your resume to Connect 4 Life specifically in reference to this 'role'.

IF you are not part of Volunteer MBC's Referral System, please email your resume with a cover letter to: [email protected], with the 'position title' in the subject line.

  1. If you have training in website development/management and wish to add front line experience, this 'role' may be ideal
  2. You can help Connect 4 Life open its website accessibility to persons with impairments, with enormous educational and professional benefits to you in doing so
  3. Excellent opportunity to 'connect' to your local community, while adding to your resume
  4. Connect 4 Life is a well established, highly regarded community service organization, and we value our volunteers immensely
  5. Enjoy the challenge of facilitating engagement of those with disabilities in your community

  • Reliable access to the Internet and devices (Laptop/PC) and software necessary for website management and 'virtual' communication with Connect 4 Life
  • You're creative, while possessing careful attention to detail
  • You're project-orientated, and you recognize and respect the importance of deadlines
  • Ideally, you're prepared and capable of taking up the challenge of making our website more accessible to persons with disabilities or impairments (visual, auditory, etc.)
  • Ability to volunteer independently, while ready to collaborate with our staff at any time
