Habitat for Humanity GTA (HFH GTA) is a local organization with a global vision of a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. We mobilize communities to help working families build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership. With the help of volunteers, donors, and community partners we provide a solid foundation for better, healthier lives for families in the GTA. Since 1988, HFH GTA has built 25 new communities, providing a hand up to hundreds of families so parents and children can have a safe, decent and affordable place to call home.By way of support for our ReStore outlets (retail stores that sell used building materials as an ongoing fundraiser for us), HFH GTA is in need of at least 5 volunteers who will assume the 'role' of Warehouse Assistant Volunteer at our Brampton outlet (see MAP, below), with its warehouse supplying store inventory to 12 ReStore outlets in the GTA.


Under the supervision of the Warehouse Coordinator, Warehouse Assistant Volunteers maintain inventory and facilitate distribution of orders from our 12 ReStore outlets. Specifically:

  • Load/unload donated materials
  • Prepare inventory for distribution to GTA ReStore oulets
  • Maintain shelf racking and physical organization of inventory
  • Ensure that the warehouse is clean and tidy, and that safety requirements are followed
  • Work with drivers regarding pickups/deliveries

  • Excellent communication skills, with a pleasant, engaging personality that makes for 'customer service excellence'
  • You're physically fit and able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs/25 kgs, and you have no difficulty bending, squatting, climbing ladders, etc.
  • You're well organized, capable of multi-tasking, and able to volunteer effectively with a minimum of supervision
  • Ability to commit to a volunteering engagement of AT LEAST 6 MONTHS (see TIME COMMITMENT, below)
  • Aware of, and able to comply with, health & safety requirements that are an important part of the 'role', including wearing CSA-approved safety boots/shoes and appropriate dress

 - Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon

WEEKLY SCHEDULE (Warehouse hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM): Volunteers are requested to contribute a MINIMUM EIGHT (8) hours per week, scheduling TBA.


ORIENTATION and on-site TRAINING will be provided to successful applicants.
