GoalThe Peel Children's Aid Society (PCAS) protects children from abuse and neglect and helps parents and caregivers build healthy families with support of our Peel community. The Mission of PCAS is to ensure the safety and well being of children and families through mutual, meaningful cooperation and collaboration. Our Volunteer Child Mentors act as role models and provide support, understanding, and guidance in a one-to-one relationship with a 'matched' child through regular outings and activities designed to promote health, wellness, and a positive, optimistic attitude (improved self-esteem/confidence) for both the child and the mentor! If you're a nurturer, and you enjoy being part of a child's healthy development in many capacities, join with the PCAS as a Volunteer Child Mentor! |

DescriptionOur Volunteer Mentor program helps build and strengthen a child's self esteem and self-confidence. You are carefully 'matched' with a child after meeting with our PCAS worker, to review/assess/discuss the mentoring assignment. The volunteer involves the 'match' in activities that likely with take both into the local community, typically outings and other mutually beneficial and rewarding activities. And central to the 'role', you'll be a 'role model' for your 'match', leading and teaching by personal example, such that the child assigned to you will adopt positive attitudes/behaviours and learn valuable social skills. The volunteer will keep the PCAS informed about the outcomes of the planned activities, changes in program schedule/content, and about any concerns. When you use your motor vehicle for this 'role', you'll be entitled to reimbursement of your 'mileage'. Clients with volunteer 'profiles' within Volunteer MBC's Referral System should 'click' the yellow box 'Apply Now!' (above) to indicate (register) your interest in this volunteering opportunity, PLUS gain immediate access to the PCAS VOLUNTEER APPLICATION FORM.
