On December 7th, Volunteer MBC hosted the Intergenerational Connections: A Peel Cares Holiday Card-Making Event at Century Gardens Recreation Centre, bringing together 85 participants, including youth (ages 12–18) and older adults (ages 55+), for a meaningful day of creativity, connection, and giving back.
The event was a resounding success, with participants crafting 229 heartfelt holiday cards for community members living in isolation and facing difficult times. Each card, brimming with warmth and well wishes, symbolized the collective effort to brighten someone’s holiday season.
These handmade treasures will be distributed to community members through member organizations including Basket Brigade, Elder Help Peel, Senior Life Enhancement Centres, MICBA, and Armagh. By reaching out to those in need, the event embodied the true spirit of the holidays: compassion and connection.
Participants didn’t just make cards—they made memories. The event fostered meaningful intergenerational bonds as youth and older adults shared stories, enjoyed engaging activities, and celebrated their shared purpose. A holiday-themed lunch added to the festive atmosphere, making the day even more special.
This event also served as the launch of the Peel Cares Campaign, an initiative aimed at supporting youth programming across Peel Region. It marked a beautiful start to a campaign that promises to inspire more such impactful gatherings.
Volunteer MBC extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and supported this event. Together, we demonstrated the power of community and the joy of giving back.
