Final project deliverable:

Comprehensive project plan for engaging post‐secondary students, including elements of marketing, communications, timelines and projected deliverables/outcomes

Key tasks include, but are not limited to:

Post‐Secondary Student Engagement:

Enhance the existing project plan to effectively engage post‐secondary students (ages 19 to 24) in volunteer engagement activities that will relate to their skills, interests and career objectives within the Region of Peel. 

Review and analyze past reports and recommendations that have been created with regards to post‐secondary student volunteer engagement. Research on‐line reports, surveys and statistics of post‐secondary student population.

Cultivate existing relationships & establish new connections with key contacts for the post‐secondary student population (i.e. student unions, clubs, etc.).

Contribute to the creation of outreach marketing material and social media messaging specific to target audience post‐secondary students. Update resource toolkit for CIP team students with a comprehensive focus on social media planning, surveys, tabling, etc. 

Assist in the contribution of audience-specific articles for the “I Care…I Volunteer” e‐newsletters that speak to the value of volunteering for the post‐secondary student population.

Conduct outreach to youth leaders in organizations operating on and off post-secondary campuses.

Develop a comprehensive Project Plan which includes key deliverables, targets, outcomes and timelines for post-secondary volunteerism.

Examine social innovation techniques that can bridge emerging methods in the voluntary sector with that of post-secondary institutions.

Time Commitment:

Monday to Friday: 35 hours per week; general work hours: 9am to 5pm

Start date: June 5, 2017

End date: August 26, 2017

Contract is 12 weeks in total.

Role Requirements:

The ideal candidate will aspire to be employed in the fields of Human Resources, Volunteer Management, Community Engagement, Social Services, or as a Youth & Child worker.

  • A strong passion for volunteering and youth engagement.
  • Excellent marketing & communications skills including all social media platforms.
  • Ability to network with and identify the volunteer requirements of high school youth in the Region of Peel.
  • Experience or familiarity in creating project management plans
  • Effective prioritizing and organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with good attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of MS‐Office applications.
  • Solid knowledge of the local community (Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon).
  • Currently enrolled in university/college and returning to school next semester ‐ in September 2017.
